The following review was featured in Blues Review Magazine

Piano Bob Wilder is the backbone of two
new releases. The first is Big Beat Blues, an
enjoyable set performed by Piano Bob's
88s
featuring Lou Abbott on drums and
vocals. Leaning hard on favorites like "Blue
Monday", "You Don't Have To Go", and
"Shake, Rattle & Roll", the 88s deserve
credit for putting great, somewhat lesser-
known songs by the Mississippi Sheiks,
Professor Longhair, Amos Milburn, and
Jimmy Rogers back in circulation. The twin-
sax and guitar lineup greatly complements
Wilder's piano.

The other CD Back In New Orleans, is
an all-original effort from
John Carey & Piano Bob. Harmonica
player Carey is a very credible singer and a
savvy writer. Where the good-time title track
takes off from Milburn's "Down The Road
Apiece," his material can be thoughtful
(check the second-line special "Parade Of
Injustice") and has considerable range
including ballads, deep soul, shuffles
("The Storm" spotlights tough, Chicago-
style harp), Cajun, zydeco, and several
New Orleans-style blues. John Fohl (guitar)
and Willy Panker (drums) make important
contributions.
